Planned action

Before the upcoming World Cup final in East Rutherford near New York, football fans are organizing a protest. Red cards are being distributed along the route to MetLife Stadium, which fans are urged to display during the final match between Spain and Argentina (at 22:00 Latvian time). The cards contain a QR code linking to the website finalredcard.com. The site instructs: "When Trump and Infantino present the trophy on July 19, raise this red card towards the field." Using VAR terminology, the text continues: "After reviewing political corruption and abuse of power, the decision is: Red card."

Reason for protest

FIFA President Infantino and US President Trump have faced sharp criticism over the past two weeks after US striker Folarin Balogun's suspension was overturned, despite receiving a red card in the round of 16 match against Belgium. This unprecedented action followed a phone call from Trump to Infantino. Balogun played for Seattle but could not prevent his team's 4-1 loss.
