Latvian champions Riga sign Bosnian goalkeeper Pirić
Latvian football champions Riga have signed 32-year-old Bosnian goalkeeper Kenan Pirić. The club currently sits second in the Latvian top division as it pursues its title defense.
Latvian football champions Riga announced on Friday that they have signed 32-year-old Bosnian goalkeeper Kenan Pirić.
Born in Tuzla, Pirić is a product of the local club Sloboda's youth system. He began his professional career at Bosnian side Gradina in Srebrenik, later spending nearly a year in Belgian club Gent's system. He then returned to Sloboda before moving on to another Bosnian club, Zrinjski Mostar.
In 2018, the goalkeeper transferred to Slovenian club Maribor, where he made 60 appearances. Over the past five years he has represented several clubs, including Greek side Atromitos of Peristeri, Turkish club Goztepe, Cypriot side AEK Larnaca, another Turkish club, Antalyaspor, and Azerbaijan's Neftchi Baku.
An experienced keeper
Pirić brings considerable experience to the squad, having won the Bosnian championship twice and the Slovenian championship once. He has also earned eight caps for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.
Riga currently sit second in the Latvian top flight, four points behind leaders RFS. The club has also reached the final of the Latvian Cup and continues to compete in the group stage of the UEFA Europa Conference League.
