Several key announcements were made at the G7 summit in France. The US president stressed the need to clear mines from the Strait of Hormuz, and European allies expressed readiness to help in Iran, but Trump must show he has a solid deal.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said he had made “hard-edged” decisions on military spending but stalled on finalizing increased funding. Starmer also announced fresh energy sanctions on Russia and a deal to supply Ukraine’s nuclear plants for the next two years.

Additionally, the EU and UK confirmed that a summit will be held on July 22, with the date agreed during talks at the G7.
