G7 Summit: Transatlantic Alliance Holds Despite Internal Disagreements
Leaders at the G7 summit managed to preserve the transatlantic alliance despite numerous disagreements on trade, climate, NATO, Ukraine, and Russia.

In a commentary for France 24, analyst Manuel Muñiz, a professor of international relations and provost at IE University in Madrid, highlighted that the real story of the summit was transatlantic strain. According to Muñiz, merely keeping the alliance together was an achievement in itself.
Muñiz noted that disagreements spanned a wide range of issues, from trade and climate to NATO, Ukraine, and Russia. He argued that it would be hard to find a moment in recent decades with so many points of contention across the Atlantic.
During the summit, leaders attempted to shift focus to global governance, but internal differences complicated efforts to reach a unified stance. Nevertheless, the resilience of the alliance is seen as a positive signal for the international community.
