G7 Ambassadors and IMF Mission Discuss Key Reforms for Ukraine's Financial Resilience
G7 ambassadors in Ukraine met with an IMF mission to discuss the country's economic outlook and reforms needed for financial stability, stressing alignment with EU principles.

This week, ambassadors of G7 countries in Ukraine met with a mission from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by IMF mission chief for Ukraine Gavin Gray, to discuss the country's economic outlook, macroeconomic reforms and financing needs.
Following the meeting, the G7 ambassadors' account on social network X stated that they reaffirmed support for Ukraine, emphasizing that reforms promoting financial resilience and alignment with EU principles remain essential.
Background
The IMF delegation, headed by Gavin Gray, launched a new mission to Ukraine on August 31, planning meetings with government officials and other stakeholders.
In June, Ukraine and the IMF reached a staff-level agreement on the first review of the four-year, $8.1 billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program, opening the way for a new $690 million disbursement.
According to Bloomberg, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reportedly been dissatisfied with the performance of National Bank Governor Andriy Pyshnyi, viewing him as too closely aligned with the IMF and insufficiently active in supporting the wartime economy. The IMF has reportedly also frustrated Zelensky by attaching a number of unpopular conditions to loans supporting Kyiv.
