Age is a human invention: a style conversation with Līgatne's free spirit Vineta Skudra
In a summer festival style-interview series, the spotlight falls on Vineta Skudra, known as Skudriņa, who runs the Līgatne guesthouse "Zaļais lācis" and whose personal motto is freedom.

As part of an ongoing summer festival style-interview series, the latest feature introduces Vineta Skudra, affectionately nicknamed Skudriņa among friends. She runs the guesthouse "Zaļais lācis" (Green Bear) in Līgatne, where a flag of Liepāja flies proudly alongside the building — a nod to her roots, as she describes herself as a proud native of Liepāja.
Skudriņa's daily life revolves around hospitality, hosting musicians from a wide range of genres who pass through her guesthouse. But her presence is just as striking outside her role as host: she is known for a colorful and eye-catching personal style.
A meeting at a festival
The interview took place at the "Saldus saule" festival, where Skudra appeared wearing a T-shirt of the band "Līvi" paired with yellow sneakers. During the conversation, she even struck a yoga pose to show off her footwear.
Asked about the essence of style, Skudra gave a clear answer: freedom is its main condition. This philosophy shows both in how she dresses and in her broader outlook on life, echoed in the idea referenced in the piece's title — that age itself is merely a human invention.
