Javelin thrower Patriks Gailums finishes tenth at Diamond League meet in Zurich

Latvian javelin thrower Patriks Gailums placed tenth in a ten-athlete field at Thursday's Diamond League meet in Zurich. Sri Lanka's Rumesh Taranga claimed a commanding victory.

Latvian athlete Patriks Gailums finished tenth in the javelin throw at Thursday's Diamond League meet in Zurich, competing in a field of ten athletes.

Gailums produced his best throws early in the competition, clearing 72 metres in each of his first three attempts. His results were 72.84 metres, 73.66 metres and finally 74.30 metres, which stood as his best mark of the evening.

Sri Lankan athlete takes the win

The competition was won convincingly by Sri Lanka's Rumesh Taranga, who launched the javelin to 92.07 metres, comfortably outdistancing the rest of the field. Second place went to Anderson Peters of Grenada with a throw of 86.93 metres, while Poland's Dawid Wegner took third with 85.16 metres.

Season continues

This season's Diamond League features 14 meets in total, culminating in the final in Brussels, Belgium, in early September.
