Riga's Air Bridge Reconstruction Project to Cost Nearly Half a Million Euros
The Riga municipality has signed a contract for the development of the Air Bridge construction project worth €487,800, with reconstruction planned by 2030.
One of Riga's most significant transport infrastructure projects—the reconstruction of the Air Bridge—has moved a step closer. A contract worth €487,800 (excluding VAT) has been signed for the development of the construction project. The design phase will last 12 months and is expected to be completed by 2027, while the actual reconstruction of the bridge is planned for completion by 2030.
The project aims to ensure safe and sustainable operation of the overpass while preserving its architectural appearance. It also seeks to improve traffic safety, accessibility, and infrastructure longevity. Environmentally friendly and sustainable solutions will be used to achieve a service life of at least 100 years.
During the design stage, traffic flows will be modeled, and traffic management solutions for the construction period, including detour routes, will be developed, with special attention to public transport. The project also includes solutions for safer and more convenient movement of pedestrians and cyclists, installation of new lighting, development of bridge maintenance infrastructure, and creation of 3D visualizations. The design will be based on previously prepared construction documentation and an architectural-artistic inventory of the Air Bridge, with the possibility to improve technical solutions to meet modern standards.
