Poster exhibition "The Language of Power" opens at Latvia's National Library
The National Library of Latvia has opened an exhibition on the history of political posters, timed to the parliamentary elections coming in October.

The National Library of Latvia, often called the Castle of Light, today opened an exhibition titled "The Language of Power – Agitation, Propaganda, Art". The exhibition was prepared ahead of the Saeima elections expected in October.
What's on display
Visitors can view political posters ranging in age from around 20 years old to more than a century old. This broad time span allows the public to trace how political visual communication has developed over a long period.
Purpose of the exhibition
The organizers aim to show the public how political slogans, along with the symbols and colors used in them, have changed over the decades — or, in some cases, remained essentially the same. This gives visitors a chance to compare the visual language and approaches of propaganda and agitation materials from different eras.
