Gajevskis and Pauniņa Win Latvian Triathlon Championships in Alūksne
The Latvian Triathlon Championships were held in Alūksne, with Artjoms Gajevskis winning the men's race and Ieva Pauniņa taking the women's title. Over 300 athletes participated.

Alūksne hosted the annual Latvian Triathlon Championships, drawing more than 300 competitors from across the country. The event featured the Olympic distance: 1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling, and 10 km running.
In the men's race, defending champion Artjoms Gajevskis and last year's silver medalist Francis Veģeris quickly broke away after the swim. Veģeris took the lead during the final 10 km of the cycling leg, but Gajevskis regained the advantage in transition and dominated the run to secure victory. Veģeris finished second again, while Mārtiņš Marnauza claimed bronze after overtaking Arvis Grencbergs late in the cycling and holding off Edijs Endols in the run. Grencbergs settled for fifth.
Among women, Ieva Pauniņa led from the start after the swim and extended her lead throughout the cycling and running legs to take the gold medal. Last year's runner-up, she improved on her 2023 result. Silver went to Jeļena Pervozvanova, and bronze to Aleksandra Zumente.
In the youth and junior categories, notable performances came from Marta Gustiņa, Gustavs Vīksne, and Sebastians Žigarkovs.
