Voronja Gallery Opens 13th Summer Season
On Sunday, June 14, the Voronja Gallery opened its 13th summer season with the exhibition 'Strange People', featuring stories and memories from local residents of the Lake Peipus region.

The Voronja Gallery, located in the Lake Peipus region, began its 13th summer season on Sunday, June 14. The opening exhibition, 'Strange People' ('Imelikud inimesed'), is the work of artists Tuulli Vahesaar and Martin Lajapea, who have spent the last six years collecting stories, observations, and memories from local residents.
In addition to the exhibition, the gallery's garden and barn feature kratts—Estonian folklore characters—created by local residents. Among them are creatures typical of the Lake Peipus region, made from fishing nets, samovars, and other familiar objects, as well as modern characters created by artificial intelligence. A protest kratt stands out with the slogan 'Think for yourself', urging people to maintain critical thinking and not trust everything that technology does for them.
The season opening featured a performance by the band Sensatsiooniline Tartu Kevadbänd, led by local resident Kristjan Piirimäe.
'The exhibition 'Strange People' will be on display at the Voronja Gallery until August 23. The gallery is open from Friday to Sunday, 12:00 to 18:00.'
The Voronja Gallery has been operating since 2014 in the Lake Peipus region, in a fishermen's house in an Old Believer village. Each summer, a contemporary art exhibition is opened in an abandoned boat shed. The gallery is run by Kaili Kask and Raul Oreshkin.
