Gerda Timrota: Raimonds Pauls teaches me a lot as a musician and as a person

Young singer Gerda Timrota spoke on Latvijas Radio's programme “Kultūras rondo” about her collaboration with Raimonds Pauls, which led to the concert programme “Tu nāc, tu ej”. She says jazz is the music of both her and the Maestro's youth, and that Pauls teaches her much both as a musician and as a person.

Singer Gerda Timrota visited the Latvijas Radio culture programme “Kultūras rondo”, where she discussed her work with composer Raimonds Pauls. The collaboration produced a concert programme called “Tu nāc, tu ej”. Timrota explained that the Maestro teaches her a great deal, both in music and in life.

The singer particularly highlighted the jazz genre, which she associates with Pauls's youth. As she points out, jazz also represents the music of her own youth. Although the two artists are separated by 70 years, Timrota finds this almost incredible and describes their meeting as something very beautiful. Because of this, she called their encounter especially beautiful.

During the interview, Timrota spoke warmly about the opportunity to work with the legendary composer. The joint work on “Tu nāc, tu ej” is, in her view, a musical dialogue between two generations. She expressed admiration for the collaboration, saying it gives her both professional and personal enrichment.
