Family Doctors' Association Calls for Discussion on Partial Incapacity

The head of the Latvian Association of Family Doctors, Alise Nicmane-Aišpure, has proposed starting a discussion on the possibility of recognizing partial incapacity for work instead of only full incapacity. Currently, in Latvia, incapacity is only recognized as 100%, but some European countries have a partial incapacity model that allows patients who are gradually recovering to work according to their regained abilities, for example, at 10%, 20%, or more.
Nicmane-Aišpure believes that such an approach could facilitate a faster return to the labor market and reduce the social burden. She invites society and healthcare professionals to engage in a conversation about whether this model could also be applicable in Latvia. The current regulations do not provide for the determination of partial incapacity, and the doctor wants to spark a broader discussion on this issue.
