The family detective film “Mission: Find the Parents”, a co-production between five countries and also a Latvian film, is arriving in Latvian cinemas. Its Latvian premiere takes place this evening at 7 p.m. at the Forum Cinemas theatre, and the filmmakers will come to Ogre on 15 November.

Recognised at international festivals

The film had its world premiere in March this year at Buff, the international film festival for children and young people, in Malmö, Sweden. Since then it has been screened in Norway, the Czech Republic, Indonesia, South Korea, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands and elsewhere, and it has won seven international festival awards.

The Latvian co-producers are Antra Gaile and Līga Gaisa of the studio Air Productions. The original score was written by Latvian composer Līva Blūma, for whom this is a film debut. The music was recorded in Studio 1 of Latvian Radio by professional musicians under conductor Kaspars Ādamsons, with Varis Kurmiņš as sound engineer. The graphic design was created by Armands Leitis.

Events and school screenings

Before the premiere this evening, a game called “Find the Diamond!” will start at 6 p.m.; it has already been held in eight Latvian cities. After the premiere, special screenings with the film crew are planned across the country: in Aizkraukle, Kuldīga, Daugavpils, Liepāja, Talsi, Sigulda, Cēsis, Valmiera and Ventspils, and on 15 November in Ogre.

The film is part of the cultural education programme “Latvijas skolas soma” (the Latvian School Satchel). From 29 October, educational materials for different age groups are available on the film’s website, helping teachers discuss the film’s themes with pupils afterwards. Schools can sign up for class screenings at cinema venues, at “Kinopunkts” and through the project “Cinema for All and Everywhere in Latvia”. Schools in Ogre municipality are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.
