Rescued climber returns to Latvia after surviving 300m fall on Denali

On the evening of July 28, severely injured mountaineer Mārtiņš Bilsens returned to Latvia from Alaska, the sole survivor of a four-person group after a 300-meter fall on Denali.

Tragic Climb Outcome

On the evening of July 28, climber Mārtiņš Bilsens arrived in Riga, severely injured after his group fell 300 meters on Mount Denali in Alaska. The accident occurred in early June, and Bilsens is the only one of four Latvian climbers to survive.

After his rescue, he spent nearly two months in an Anchorage hospital receiving intensive treatment. Upon landing in Riga, he was immediately handed over to medical personnel.

Return and Treatment in Latvia

The full extent of his recovery timeline remains unclear, but doctors indicate he will need long-term medical care. His family has not commented on his current condition.
