Sculptor Gļebs Panteļejevs Explores the Concept of Freedom Through Iconic Figures in 'Monumenti' Exhibition

Artist Gļebs Panteļejevs (61) invites visitors to reflect on freedom and prosperity in his new exhibition 'Monumenti,' on display at the Dubulti Art Station until September 2.
The centerpiece of the exhibition is a monumental sculpture made from numerous steel rods. It simultaneously evokes Jesus with a crown of thorns, a homeless person carrying two bags, and the Statue of Liberty in the democratic world. The artist suggests that the work raises the question of which of these three figures is the most free.
Panteļejevs notes that the venue is brilliant because it is located in a station where people come and go, wait for trains, and can view art for free as part of their daily routine.
