Google Cloud outage at London data centre hits UK banks and postal services
Serious disruption hit Google's cloud services at its London-based European data centre on Tuesday. Several UK banks and companies were affected, and Google has not yet explained the cause.

Google's cloud computing platform, Google Cloud, suffered serious disruption on Tuesday at its European data centre based in London. Cloud computing lets companies use remote computing power and data storage, so a fault of this kind can affect the services of many customers at once.
The company said that several Google Cloud services were experiencing intermittent network problems.
Services affected
Outage-tracking website Downdetector received several hundred reports of problems. These affected British banks Lloyds and HSBC, the property website Rightmove and the postal services company Royal Mail. The UK digital bank Revolut also reported disruption to several of its services.
Cause still unknown
Google said it is continuing to investigate the problems. So far the company has not explained why the disruption occurred, and the source gives no information on when services will be fully restored.
