Google Discover to let users customize their feed with an AI chatbot
Google is rolling out a new feature that lets users shape their Discover feed by describing their preferences to an AI chatbot. The tool arrives in the Google app within the coming days.

Google has announced a new way for users to customize their Discover feed using an AI-powered chatbot interface. The feature, set to roll out to the Google app within the coming days, will let people simply describe what kind of content they want to see, and the system will adjust the feed accordingly.
The option will appear in the three-dot menu on the Discover feed. Tapping it opens a chatbot-style interface where users can type out their preferences. The chatbot then confirms the choices and explains what types of content it will prioritize going forward. If the result isn't quite right, users can provide additional details to refine it further. Once satisfied, tapping a "Refresh your feed" button applies the changes, and the system will remember these preferences for future visits.
Discover surfaces recommended articles based on a user's activity across Google's search engine and other apps. The new tool is meant to make it easier to control what shows up in that feed. Several social media platforms have already introduced similar AI-driven feed customization options, including YouTube, Instagram, Bluesky, and X.
Additional updates
Google also announced related changes. On Android, the Google News app will soon allow users to personalize their daily audio news briefings.
The company is also updating its Preferred Sources feature, which lets readers see more content from their favorite outlets within Search's "top stories" section, AI Overviews, and AI Mode. Publishers will now be able to add an interactive "Preferred Sources" button directly on their websites, letting readers add the outlet to their list without leaving the page.
