Google teases new Fitbit Edge fitness tracker ahead of expected October 12 reveal
Google has effectively confirmed a new fitness tracker called the Fitbit Edge through posts on Instagram and X. The device is expected to be unveiled on October 12.

Technology company Google published posts on Instagram and X on October 9 that effectively confirm the name and design of a new wearable, the Fitbit Edge fitness tracker. The posts show an image of what appears to be a side button and the caption "Get an Edge on your health. 10.12.26," suggesting an unveiling on October 12. The move indicates Google is expanding its range of wearable health devices.
Where the device fits
According to rumors, the Fitbit Edge will sit between the screenless Fitbit Air, launched earlier this year, and the more premium Pixel Watch 5 smartwatch. The capitalized "Edge" in the caption points to it being the product's name.
How the details emerged
Images of the device have circulated since at least August, when the site 9to5Google spotted an unnamed fitness tracker in Google's Pixel 11 marketing. The name became public this week when Android Headlines shared images along with details of the built-in apps and health tracking features. French magazine Dealabs then confirmed the design and name and added information on battery life and a possible price.
According to those reports, the Edge should last up to seven days per charge with the always-on display disabled and two days with it enabled. In Europe it could cost €179 (about $200). Because the Fitbit Air starts at $99 in the US and €99 in Europe, the Edge could end up closer to $180 in the US.
Background
The last similarly sized fitness tracker Google introduced was the Fitbit Charge 6 in 2023. If reporting proves accurate, the Edge would be a natural step up from the Fitbit Air and another way to encourage users to take up a Google Health Premium subscription. Whether Google follows through will become clear on October 12.
