Google Maps adds agentic features including food ordering and hotel bookings
Google Maps' Ask Maps feature is gaining agentic capabilities, letting users order food, book hotels, find event tickets and receive personalized answers based on Gmail and Calendar data.

Google has introduced a new set of agentic tools for its Maps application, building on the existing "Ask Maps" feature. The update lets users place food orders, reserve hotel rooms and find tickets to events directly through conversational queries. The announcement, made Thursday, signals the company's push to evolve Maps from a straightforward navigation app into a more proactive digital assistant.
In terms of food ordering, a user can ask Ask Maps for something like vegan avocado toast and an oat milk latte near home. The app then shows nearby restaurants that match. Once a restaurant is selected, an "Order online" option appears, connecting to supported services such as Square, Toast or Uber Eats. The cart is populated automatically, and payment happens on the partner platform.
For travel, a user might enter a query about a conference in downtown Miami and request a well-priced, top-rated hotel with an artsy vibe close to a gym and restaurants. Ask Maps compares prices and availability before presenting a list. Booking is completed by clicking through to the partner's website. Event discovery works similarly: asking about comedy shows or live music near work returns options with ticket-buying links.
The update also introduces Personal Intelligence, a feature that draws on Gmail and Google Calendar to tailor answers. It can, for example, tell a user when their upcoming flight lands in Vancouver or recommend places to eat and explore near their hotel. Personal Intelligence is off by default. Additionally, Ask Maps now remembers prior conversations, so users can revisit earlier suggestions, such as activities for a planned Seattle trip.
Google is also adding a live transit widget to Ask Maps, showing real-time delays and conditions. While the agentic ordering and booking features are currently rolling out to users in the United States, Personal Intelligence and the live transit widget are being made available in all markets where Ask Maps already exists.
