Google reworks its CC AI agent into a household organizer for families

Google this week announced a significant shift for its AI agent CC, previously a general productivity tool that pulled information from email, calendar and other sources. The agent's new focus is helping families manage the daily logistics of running a household.

CC originally connected to Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive and the web to compile a daily briefing for users each morning. In May, that feature arrived in the Gemini app as "Daily Brief." According to Google, user feedback showed people mainly wanted the tool for household tasks — tracking kids' school schedules, sports practices, bills and meal plans.

How the new CC works

The updated CC now has its own Google account, letting it collaborate with multiple family members while keeping separate permissions for each person's data. Family members choose what to share with CC — such as emails about school events, doctor appointments or birthday invitations — either by forwarding messages manually or by automating sharing from trusted senders like schools or sports clubs, which CC will also suggest weekly.

CC currently supports up to six family members collaborating at once. The agent tracks important dates and to-do items, automatically adding them to a shared calendar or task list. It can also complete select tasks on a family's behalf, including filling out permission slips, building school-supply shopping lists, planning weekly meals, and calculating drive times between activities, asking for missing details when needed.

The agent runs on an isolated cloud computer powered by Gemini and Google's Antigravity agentic framework. For now, the experiment is limited to U.S. adults with a personal Gmail account, meaning teens using school-issued email accounts are excluded. Existing CC users will receive upgrade invitations in the coming days, while new users can join a waitlist.
