At today's Made by Google event, the company introduced a wide range of new products, including phones, foldables, watches and Bluetooth trackers, but no new earbud models joined the lineup. The Pixel Buds Pro 2, now two years old, and the more affordable Pixel Buds 2a, released roughly a year ago, remain Google's current earbud offerings.

Instead of new hardware, Google detailed a set of software upgrades arriving for existing models in September.

What's changing

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 will gain dynamic ANC that automatically adjusts when the earbuds' seal shifts. Both the Pro 2 and 2a will get deeper Gemini integration, allowing the AI assistant to adjust volume and change equalizer settings on voice command.

The earbuds will also be able to sync with the Pixel Watch: if the watch detects that the wearer has fallen asleep, it will automatically pause playback and disable notifications.

The live translate feature is being expanded to support more than 70 languages, with listening mode triggered by simply tapping the earbud.

Finally, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 will be available in a new olive-green color option, with preorders already open.
