Kaspars Gorkss, director general of the Employers' Confederation of Latvia (LDDK), had income of 92,696 euros last year, 3.7% less than a year earlier. The figures come from his public official's declaration, filed in his capacity as acting director of the Jūrmala Football School. Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs (United List) is putting Gorkss forward as director of the State Chancellery, the institution that supports the work of the Latvian government.

Sources of income

The largest share, 62,320 euros, was salary from LDDK. At the Jūrmala Football School he earned 27,526 euros, and Latvian Public Media paid him 1,800 euros. He also received 700 euros from the company Citrus Solutions and 350 euros from 3K management in 2025.

Property and loans

The declaration lists real estate in Riga and a 2013 Mercedes Benz A250 car. Gorkss also holds one investment fund valued at 406,730 British pounds (480,899 euros), and the declaration shows three loans he has issued, totalling 111,143 euros.

Nomination

Following the final round of the selection, Kulbergs is asking the government to approve Gorkss. The prime minister said the candidate has suitable experience to carry out the changes he has defined, and thanked all three finalists. The selection ran in three rounds: of 18 applications, nine candidates advanced to the second round and three to the third.

The party New Unity has asked that the government not consider the matter this week. Its parliamentary group leader, Edmunds Jurēvics, said the party needs answers to several questions about Gorkss's suitability for the post. The Greens and Farmers Union has said it plans to support his candidacy.

The previous director, Raivis Kronbergs, was detained in May in the so-called timber industrialists' case. He was suspended, and the parties later agreed that Kronbergs would leave the post.
