Govee Smart Christmas String Lights Get 25% Discount on Amazon
Amazon is offering a 25 percent discount on Govee Christmas Lights 2 smart string lights, from $25 off the shortest length to $100 off the longest. A Wired reviewer says they haven't seen them this cheap since last year's Black Friday.
Ahead of the holiday season, the US online retailer Amazon is offering an extra 25 percent off Govee Christmas Lights 2, smart LED string lights made by the lighting company Govee. The tech publication Wired, whose guide to the best smart Christmas lights names this model its budget pick, reports the price is the lowest the reviewer has seen since last year's Black Friday sales.
How big is the discount
The saving depends on the length. The longest, 328-foot (about 100 meters) string, which can cover an entire front yard, is up to $100 cheaper. The 66-foot (about 20 meters) version, described as suitable for an average tree, is $25 off.
Features
The lights are IP67 rated and withstand extreme temperatures, so they can be used outdoors. An outdoor outlet is still required, and for larger outdoor displays Wired recommends a weatherproof electrical box. The string itself is green, so it blends in with real or artificial trees and with shrubs. A spool makes it easier to unwind and install the lights.
They connect via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and work with the Govee app, or can be added to a smart home system through the Matter standard. A small control unit with a power button is included, but remote control and automatic scheduling require a smart home connection.
In the app, users can change color and brightness, and by mapping the lights with a phone camera they can pick complex animated effects. More than 100 presets are available, and the app can also generate effects based on the user's interests. The reviewer notes the lights are not limited to Christmas: effects exist for occasions such as Halloween, as well as classic white light for year-round use. He has used them outdoors for a couple of years, and they still work well.
