Grava and Čakšs win medals at Italian athletics meet
Sprinters Oskars Grava and javelin thrower Gatis Čakšs have won medals in Italy, with Grava posting the fastest 100m time by a Latvian this year.

In Rieti, Italy, two Latvian athletes competed at the high-level “Enterprise Sport & Service” athletics meet and both earned podium finishes.
Sprinter Oskars Grava clocked 10.29 seconds in the 100 meters to take third place. That time is the best among Latvian sprinters so far this year. It is also close to his personal best of 10.25 seconds, which he set in 2024 and has only matched once.
Javelin thrower Gatis Čakšs finished second with a throw of 72.59 meters. While not a top-tier result, it was enough to secure a spot on the podium.
The competition was part of the “Oro” (gold) league, the highest ranking tier this season.
