Grava sets personal best in 200m sprint in Belgium

Latvian athlete Oskars Grava set a new personal best in the 200m (20.52) in Belgium, finishing third.

Latvian sprinter Oskars Grava competed in a World Athletics Bronze level meet in Belgium on July 11, 2026. He ran the 200 meters in 20.52 seconds, a new personal best, improving his previous record by 0.11 seconds. The wind assistance was 1.2 m/s, within legal limits.

The time puts him just 0.11 seconds behind Sergejs Inšakovs' Latvian record from 1996 and 0.07 seconds off the European championship standard. Grava finished third in the race behind Ireland's Benjamin Richardson (20.32) and Botswana's Kevin Lobatlamang (20.46).

In the 100 meters, Grava clocked 10.36 seconds, placing 15th.

Meanwhile, in the United Kingdom, Roberts Glāzers set a new personal best in the 1500 meters with a time of 3:45.87, improving by 2.26 seconds. He finished third in his heat.
