Grealish back in Man City fold, but future still uncertain

Jack Grealish, 30, is back playing for Manchester City despite his long-term future at the club remaining unresolved. Last season he was sidelined by then-manager Pep Guardiola and sent on a season-long loan to Everton, a spell cut short in January by an Achilles tendon injury.

Now fully fit again, Grealish has featured in both of City's matches so far this season, coming off the bench in the Community Shield defeat to Arsenal and playing the final eight minutes of City's late win over Bournemouth in their Premier League opener. He thanked fans on social media for their welcome on his return.

Grealish is in the final year of his contract, reportedly worth £300,000 a week. New head coach Enzo Maresca says it is his duty to coach and develop Grealish, but has not ruled out a departure before the transfer window closes on 1 September, saying the situation will become clearer within a week.

Everton interest lingers

Everton chief executive Angus Kinnear confirmed the club has stayed in contact with Grealish, though no formal offer has been made. Before his injury last season, Grealish scored two goals and provided six assists in 20 appearances for Everton and was named the Premier League's Player of the Month for August. City sources say no concrete offers have been received this summer, but a return to Everton is seen as the most likely option should Grealish leave the club.
