Greece topped the list of European countries with the highest number of prolonged flight delays during the summer season, according to a study by the platform AirAdvisor. Analysts examined airport operations across Europe from June to September 2025. The findings showed that seven popular Greek resort airports were among the top 20 European airports with the highest percentage of flights delayed by more than one hour. These airports include those on the islands of Kefalonia, Corfu, Zakynthos, Kos, Rhodes, Mykonos, and Chania on Crete.

The airport with the worst record was Bergamo in Italy, where nearly 12% of flights departed with a delay of over an hour. Nice airport in France ranked second, while Kefalonia airport in Greece came in third. The study suggests that travelers should be aware that Greek resort airports are particularly prone to significant delays during the peak tourist season, which could impact summer travel plans. Delays of this magnitude can cause substantial disruptions to itineraries, especially at popular holiday destinations.
