Band "Tante gaida" releases new single and promises second album
Indie-folk band "Tante gaida" has released the single "Atzīšanās gaidīšana" with a music video. A listening event for the second album will be held on 24 October at Vagonu Hall in Riga.
The Latvian indie-folk band "Tante gaida" has released a new song, "Atzīšanās gaidīšana" (roughly, "Waiting for a Confession"). It is linked to the upcoming second full-length album and hints at its themes.
The song pairs an uplifting melody with lyrics about admitting mistakes and learning from them. Lyricist Lote Voiska says the song is her open admission that she has gone wrong on her path, and a dedication to a person who deserved to hear such words in more than just a song. In her words, the melody has a hopeful tone, but the lyrics quickly bring the listener closer to reality.
The music video
The single also has a video that uses a range of audiovisual techniques. The creative team included director Patrīcija Prūse, cinematographer and stage director Kārlis Bergs, artist Paula Graudaka and producer Anna Marija Baleviča. Prūse says the video was inspired by lyrics about a relationship that failed for selfish reasons, and that it may also carry a hope that the person will return. The waiting is shown through sitting on a sofa, sunbathing on the grass and hugging trees.
About the band
The band's members are Dāvids Kalniņš, Elizabete Liepa, Lote Voiska, Rebeka Rēķe and Kārlis Grīnbergs. Their sound is defined by lively melodies, multi-part vocals and self-written poetry, letting listeners experience both melancholy and bohemian exuberance.
Last May the group released its debut album "Happenings isn't Endings", which was nominated for a Gamma award in the category "Group of the Year, Indie genre". Now the band invites listeners to hear the second album together on 24 October at Vagonu Hall in Riga.
