How to Watch the GTA VI Extended Look Trailer: Netflix First, Then YouTube
Netflix will exclusively host the new Grand Theft Auto VI extended trailer for six hours on Thursday, August 27, before it becomes freely available on Rockstar Games' YouTube channel.

Netflix has secured a six-hour exclusive window to premiere a new Grand Theft Auto VI trailer, titled "Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look," on Thursday, August 27. The video will go live on the streaming platform at 3PM ET, where subscribers can find its landing page and set a reminder. Those without a subscription can sign up through plans ranging from $9 to $27 a month.
Six hours later, at 9PM ET the same evening, the trailer will move to Rockstar Games' official YouTube channel, where anyone with the link can watch it for free. YouTube Premium subscribers will get one small perk: their viewing won't be interrupted by extra ads on top of the trailer itself.
The release comes amid a wave of leaked GTA VI gameplay footage that Rockstar has been trying to contain online. The full game is scheduled to launch on November 19, starting at $80.
A bold bet for Netflix
The arrangement is something of an unusual gamble for Netflix, since the exclusivity lasts only a single afternoon before the audience shifts en masse to YouTube — not counting the flood of unofficial re-uploads likely to hit social media almost immediately. Over the past two years, Netflix has significantly scaled back its video game ambitions, including shutting down Oxenfree developer Night School Studio, which it acquired in 2021. Since Netflix Games head Alain Tascan took charge in 2024, the company has closed or sold off nearly all of its game studios, keeping only one. Still, the Grand Theft Auto franchise stands apart in terms of cultural impact and popularity, making it one of the few properties capable of generating this level of hype around a preview trailer alone.
