Guarulhos braces for rainy Monday evening after hot, dry weekend

According to news outlet G1 (using data from Climatempo), Monday, August 31, in Guarulhos, in Brazil's São Paulo state, will see sun with heavy clouds and periods of overcast skies. The high is expected to reach around 30°C, with a low near 19°C. In the evening, showers and thunderstorms are forecast.

However, Metrô News Jornal, which published its forecast earlier, on Friday, August 28, projected a notably higher Monday high of up to 37°C with only partly cloudy skies and no specific mention of rain. The discrepancy suggests forecasts shifted in the following days or that the outlets relied on different data.

The days before

On Friday, August 28, Guarulhos experienced dry, warm weather. Per Terra (also citing Climatempo), temperatures ranged from 16°C in the morning to 31°C in the afternoon, humidity dropped to as low as 37%, winds blew from the northeast at around 7 km/h, and no rain was expected. Metrô News Jornal cited similar but not identical figures — a range of 17°C to 32°C, humidity falling to 27%, and a 0% chance of rain.

According to Metrô News, Saturday, August 29 saw highs climb to 34°C under cloudy skies but no rain, while Sunday, August 30 reached 36°C under clear skies, also without precipitation.

Outlook for coming days

G1 reports that Tuesday, September 1 should start with sun and clouds in the morning, followed by heavy rain in the afternoon and continuing into the evening. Metrô News had already forecast on Friday that humidity would likely rise from Tuesday onward, with a chance of rain. Both sources point to the same trend: after several hot, dry days, weather in Guarulhos is turning wetter.
