Latvian goaltender Kristers Gudlevskis and his club Fischtown Pinguins of Bremerhaven lost 4-1 away to Kölner Haie in the German ice hockey league (DEL) on Sunday. After ten games the team sits 12th in the 14-club league.

Latvian goaltender Kristers Gudlevskis played on Sunday in a regular-season game of the DEL, Germany's top ice hockey league, in which his club, Fischtown Pinguins of Bremerhaven, lost on the road to Kölner Haie of Cologne. The final score was 4-1, with the periods ending 1-1, 2-0 and 1-0 in favour of the hosts. The defeat costs the team points in the race for a better league position.
The goaltender's performance
Gudlevskis stopped 16 of the 20 shots fired at his goal. That works out to a save rate of 80%. Four shots did get past him, and Cologne scored four goals to the visitors' one.
Standing in the table
After ten games played, Fischtown Pinguins have collected 12 points. With that record, the Bremerhaven club currently occupies 12th place in the DEL, which has 14 teams. That puts the team closer to the bottom of the table than to the top.
The winners
The winners, Kölner Haie, are the reigning champions: last season this club became the German ice hockey champion. The Bremerhaven side therefore lost away to the holder of the national title.
