Gutkovskis scores in Polish First League, but Arka lose Tri-City derby
Latvia national team striker Vladislavs Gutkovskis scored for a second game running, but his club Arka Gdynia lost 2-1 to Lechia Gdansk in the Polish First League.

Vladislavs Gutkovskis, a striker for the Latvian national football team, scored in a Polish First League match, the second tier of Polish football, but his club Arka Gdynia lost the Tri-City derby in Gdansk to local side Lechia 2-1. It was his goal in a second consecutive game, yet it did not bring Arka a result, and the team remains in the lower half of the table.
Gutkovskis played the entire match. Early in the second half, in the 47th minute, he shielded the ball well with his body in a duel and then struck from outside the penalty area into the far top corner. That made it 1-1. However, Lechia regained the lead just four minutes later and went on to win 2-1.
How the season has gone
The season began well for Gutkovskis and the team: Arka won three of their first four matches, and the striker scored four goals and provided one assist in that spell. He then sat on the bench for five league games and lost the captain's armband after the international break. He has scored in both games since losing the armband.
Over 11 games this season, Gutkovskis has six goals and one assist.
The league table
Arka, who were relegated from Poland's top flight, the Ekstraklasa, have now gone seven games without a win, with two draws and five defeats. With 11 points from 11 games they are 15th in the 18-team division, seven points off the places that give a chance of promotion through the play-offs.
