A hacker responsible for the cyberattack on the state-owned company "Latvijas Valsts Meži" (LVM) is not hiding his activities. He has set up a website where he openly publishes information about organizations he claims to have hacked, describing his attacks in an ironic tone.
Cybersecurity experts urge caution in evaluating these claims, as criminals often exaggerate their "achievements." Researchers reveal that the hacker's primary motive is financial — he breaks into systems, steals or encrypts data, and then demands a ransom.
Police confirm that the investigation into the hacker's activities is ongoing but are not releasing further details at this time. Meanwhile, the information technology security incident response institution "Cert.lv" has denied concerns that the hacker obtained source codes for the election system.
Experts suggest that after failing to receive a ransom for the LVM data, the hacker began releasing it this week and is already seeking new targets for attacks. More details can be found in the TV3 News report.
