Halloween Shopping: Comparing Prices at Rimi, Maxima, Lidl and Pepco in Latvia
On 30 October, the Latvian news portal LA.LV compared the publicly listed Halloween offers at Rimi, Maxima, Lidl and Pepco. The biggest discount percentage does not always mean the lowest final price, so sweets are best compared by price per kilogram.

Ahead of Halloween on Saturday, 31 October, retail chains in Latvia are offering discounts on sweets, pumpkins, masks and decorations. On 30 October the news portal LA.LV compared the publicly available offers of the supermarket chains Rimi, Maxima and Lidl and the discount retailer Pepco. Its conclusion: the largest discount percentage does not always give the lowest price, so it is worth checking at least two stores before buying.
Rimi
The chain has a dedicated Halloween selection that brings together pumpkins, sweets, masks and decorations, with some items marked down by 40–50%. A 375-gram pack of Toffifee Halloween costs €5.99 (regular price €11.99), but works out at about €15.97 per kilogram. Astra Halloween sweets in a 150-gram pack cost €1.39, or roughly €9.27 per kilogram. A spider-shaped basket costs €0.89, masks €1.79, and pumpkins €0.49 per kilogram, down from €0.99.
Maxima
The offer runs from 27 October to 2 November, and for some items the best price requires the Paldies loyalty card. Haribo gummy sweets cost €1.69 (full price €2.89), with the per-kilogram price starting at €9.66. A 100-gram bag of Takis Dark Dracula chips fell from €4.99 to €2.39. Laima sweets, except wafer cakes, carry a 25% discount this week. A skeleton decoration costs €1.99, a light decoration €2.99, and a robe-style costume with a mask €5.99.
Pepco and Lidl
Pepco has fewer promotions, but its decoration prices are low: 12 paper plates cost €0.90, LED decorations range from about €2 to €3, and a large skeleton costs €9. Lidl in Latvia has a Halloween-week section, but on 29 October its public website did not show a comparable list of current Halloween prices, so assessing the chain would not be fair.
Summary
For sweets, Rimi and Maxima are close, differing by a few tens of cents per kilogram. For decorations, Rimi, Maxima and Pepco can all be good value. LA.LV names Rimi as the most universal single-store option. Offers in stores may vary depending on store format and product availability.
