This June marks what would have been the 75th birthday of bard Haralds Sīmanis. His persona and voice, described as an unmistakable "calling voice," left a profound impression on his contemporaries.
Singer, composer and music pedagogue Arnis Miltiņš remembers Sīmanis with deep respect. In an interview with LSM's Culture portal, Miltiņš reveals that they never performed on the same stage and rarely spoke. He explains that when he finds himself with someone he truly values, he tends to fall silent and listen, simply enjoying the energy of being together. Afterwards, he sometimes regrets not engaging in conversation, but at the moment, the opportunity to be close to a significant person takes precedence.
Haralds Sīmanis's contribution to the Latvian bard tradition is undeniable. His unique voice and personality still live on in memories and musical heritage.
