Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, and his wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, visited several charities in the English city of Nottingham on Thursday, 15 October. It is the couple's first official joint public engagement since they returned to the UK in August, and it comes six years after they stepped back from royal duties.

First stop at a youth studio

The pair arrived at the Community Recording Studio, a youth charity in the St Ann's area that offers access to music, recording facilities and mentoring. They were met with cheers, hugs and handshakes.

Inside, Harry and Meghan spoke with young people, watched a drama workshop and listened to a recording session. They applauded the performers, embraced a singer and chatted with well-wishers, and Meghan was handed several bouquets of flowers as they left. The visit highlighted the charity's use of music, performance and sport to help young people build confidence and practical skills.

Two more stops planned

This was the first of three planned stops in Nottingham. It was to be followed by Himmah Hub, a community organisation tackling food poverty, and Epic Partners, which supports young people through sport, education and mentoring.

Nottingham carries particular significance for the couple: it was the location of their first joint public engagement after announcing their engagement in 2017. The visit is described as part of an effort by Harry and Meghan to rebuild their public profile in Britain.
