HBO Max introduces vertical video feed 'HBO Max Shorts'
Warner Bros. Discovery is testing a TikTok-like vertical video feed on HBO Max to help users discover new movies and shows.

Warner Bros. Discovery is bringing a vertical video feed to HBO Max, similar to features already available on Netflix, Disney Plus, and Peacock. The new feed, called "HBO Max Shorts," will be accessible from an icon on the bottom navigation menu.
The feed will show trailers, clips, and bonus content from the HBO Max library, tailored to each user based on their watch history. Users can jump directly into a show or movie from a clip or add it to their list for later.
Initially, HBO Max Shorts will be tested with select iOS users in the US before rolling out to more markets and devices. The clips are created using an in-house AI tool that helps human editors select and verticalize content. The AI uses machine learning algorithms with scene-level metadata to scan thousands of hours of titles and suggest the most compelling scenes. Editors then choose the best clips that capture key plot twists and visually stunning moments.
In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery is testing an "experimental conversational search experience" for HBO Max, allowing users to search for content using natural language queries. This feature is currently available for adult users on Android in the US.
