Shootings in nightlife districts in several US cities over the Halloween weekend killed at least six people and wounded dozens, officials said. Dallas saw the deadliest violence, with four killed.

Shootings in nightlife districts and college towns across the United States over the Halloween weekend left at least six people dead and dozens wounded, according to officials.
Dallas
The worst of the violence was in Dallas, Texas, where several shootings in the Deep Ellum neighbourhood, a hub for music, restaurants and nightlife, killed four people and injured 15. Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux said investigators had yet to establish whether three separate shootings on Saturday night, spread over roughly an hour and 15 minutes, were connected, and the motive was not immediately known. Some arrests were made, though he gave no numbers or charges. Police had boosted their presence in the district beforehand, and no officers were hurt.
Other cities
In Birmingham, Alabama, two separate shootings outside Legion Field after the annual "Magic City Classic" college football game on Saturday night killed one person and wounded eight. Alabama A&M beat Alabama State 31-28 before nearly 70,000 fans. Police detained one person and found multiple weapons.
In Newark, Delaware, six people were shot late Saturday near the University of Delaware campus. In Bloomington, Illinois, a shooting early Sunday near Illinois Wesleyan University killed a 19-year-old woman and left another woman in critical condition, while six others were hurt. In Fayetteville, Arkansas, six people were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds near the University of Arkansas; no arrests have been made, and a preliminary investigation points to an altercation before the shooting.
Friday incidents
On Friday, two people were killed in separate shootings at Spirit Halloween stores. In Fairfield, California, police described the attack as targeted; the victim, a 31-year-old woman, was pregnant, according to relatives, and six others were wounded. In Madison Heights, Michigan, a 21-year-old man was fatally shot.
