Hibernian sack head coach David Gray

Hibernian have parted ways with head coach David Gray after a difficult opening stretch of the season.

The decision followed Tuesday's home defeat to Kilmarnock, who sit bottom of the Scottish Premiership table. That result left Edinburgh side Hibernian in ninth place with just six points from their opening six league matches. The loss also marked Hibs' sixth consecutive home defeat, a run stretching back into last season.

Gray's assistants, Liam Craig and Craig Samson, are also departing Easter Road alongside him. John Potter has been placed in temporary charge of the team and will lead Hibernian into Saturday's home fixture against Aberdeen.

Executive chairman Ian Gordon said the board did not take the decision lightly, but felt it was necessary given the club's recent downturn in results and performances.
