In Tuesday's Optibet Hockey League (OHL) match, HK Prizma secured an impressive 9:1 home victory over Lithuanian club HC Energija, which was playing its first game of the season.

Prizma, which had lost its previous two matches, struck early, opening the scoring in the eighth minute through Kristaps Riekstiņš. The first period ended with a narrow 1:0 lead, but Prizma turned its dominance into goals in the second period — Krists Apsītis, Artūrs Apfelbaums, Mihails Mizeraks and Kirils Vasiļjevs scored four goals within ten minutes, extending the lead to 5:0.

Energija answers, but Prizma pulls further ahead

In the third period, the Lithuanians got their first goal of the season through Aivaras Bendžius, but Prizma quickly restored its big lead. A second goal from Riekstiņš, a power-play strike from Roberts Jekimovs, and the first goal of the match for Valters Apfelbaums pushed the margin to seven goals. In the match's closing seconds, with four seconds left on the clock, Jekimovs added his second goal and the team's ninth.

The match statistics reflected Prizma's overwhelming control — the team fired 67 shots on goal compared to the opponents' 21. Artūrs Apfelbaums finished the game with four points (1+3).

This was Prizma's second win in four matches this season — the team had earlier beaten another Lithuanian club, Hockey Punks, but lost twice to Liepāja. HC Energija, meanwhile, opened its season with a heavy defeat. The two teams will meet again in 11 days, on September 26.
