Honda Parts Ways With MXGP Rider Fernandez
The Honda 114 Motorsports team has ended its cooperation with MXGP motocross world championship rider Fernandez. He had raced for the team since 2023, and a heavy crash in Turkey ended his 2026 season early.

The Honda 114 Motorsports team, which competes in the MXGP motocross world championship, has announced that it is ending its cooperation with rider Fernandez, who had been part of the squad since 2023. The decision means both the team and the rider will now have to look for new directions for upcoming seasons.
A strong start with the team
Fernandez joined the team in 2023 after good results with Honda 114 Motorsports and made an immediate impression. He took his first Grand Prix victory at the MXGP round in Argentina, held at Villa La Angostura. Podium finishes in Spain, Germany and Italy followed, and he finished the season fifth in the overall MXGP standings.
Injuries and a comeback
The 2024 season was marked by injuries, and Fernandez managed to compete in only four rounds. In 2025 he returned, finishing fourth in the overall MXGP standings and reaching the podium three times.
A season cut short
In 2026 Fernandez again competed in the tough MXGP field and added one more podium to his record. However, a heavy crash in Turkey forced him to end the season early. Before that, he had been closing in on another place in the top five of the overall season standings.
The team thanked Fernandez for his contribution both on and off the track and wished him all the best going forward.
