Choreographer from Kherson becomes Marine Corps sergeant
A young choreographer from Kherson, who never imagined military service, joined the Ukrainian Marine Corps after experiencing the Russian occupation.

Yana Zalevska, a young choreographer from Kherson, could not have imagined before Russia's full-scale invasion that she would ever enlist and go to the front. However, witnessing the reality of the "Russian world" in Kherson convinced her that she needed to be part of the army to grow, learn, and defend the country.

In a conversation with Latvian Radio, the junior sergeant of the 19th separate battalion of the Marine Corps shared her journey from civilian profession to military service. She emphasized that the so-called "Russian peace" imposed by Russia was the decisive factor that prompted her to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Life Transformation
Before the war, Yana worked as a choreographer and never planned a military career. However, Russian aggression changed her priorities. Now she serves as a junior sergeant, actively participating in the defense of the nation.
