HoverAir Versa blends pocket gimbal camera with a drone
HoverAir has introduced Versa, a hybrid device that functions as a stabilized handheld camera and can transform into a drone. It targets creators who shoot both on the ground and in the air.
HoverAir, known for its subject-tracking drones, has announced a new product called Versa. It's a three-axis gimbal camera that can quickly switch from handheld use to flight mode. The company positions it as an ideal tool for vloggers, travel creators, and filmmakers who need both ground and aerial footage.
In its handheld form, Versa resembles DJI's Osmo Pocket series or Insta360's Luna, featuring a built-in stabilized camera, screen, and controls including a record button and joystick. HoverAir promises superior dynamic range and impressive low-light performance thanks to a new image processor. The camera also supports AI framing and optical stabilization.
To turn Versa into a drone, users slide a back plate down, snap it onto the drone "carrier," unfold the wings, and launch it from the palm of their hand. The company emphasizes that no controller or piloting experience is required — just launch and go. Like other HoverAir drones, Versa includes an AI follow-me mode to track the user's movements.
There's also a photo mode called "3D Worlds" that performs a 360-degree flight pattern and reconstructs the image in three dimensions. HoverAir says the device will offer more than 10 intelligent flight modes for social media content, with no flying skills needed.
The company hasn't released key specifications yet, such as sensor size, video resolutions, lens details, or price. HoverAir has promised to share more information soon and encourages users to subscribe for updates.
