Hull hits back at criticism over caddie prank

British golfer Charley Hull has responded to criticism over a prank she played on her caddie Adam Woodward. The sportswoman urged those with complaints to loosen up, insisting the stunt was meant as light-hearted humour.

Hull explained that she deliberately removes social media apps from her phone during tournament weeks and only restores them after returning home. She dislikes being seen and tagged by others, as she prefers to remain in the present moment. This habit helps her avoid distractions and concentrate on her game. In her view, people who criticise the prank are taking it too seriously and need to lighten up, because the situation was actually funny.

The golfer also said that Woodward himself laughed about the incident afterwards and is not easily offended. If someone does not like the joke, that is their problem, she added. Although Hull admitted feeling sorry for Adam, she stressed that having a good week on the course is what matters most. As a gesture of apology, she plans to buy him 100 scratchcards at the end of the week.
