Hull City sign Gelhardt and Gourna-Douath

Hull City have confirmed two new signings, bringing in English forward Joe Gelhardt from Leeds United and French midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath from Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg. Financial terms of both deals remain undisclosed.

Gelhardt, 24, has signed a four-year contract with Hull, with the option of a further 12 months. The move makes his stay at the club permanent after two loan spells over the past 18 months, during which he scored 14 goals in the Championship last season, including the decisive second goal against Millwall in the play-off second leg that sealed Hull's promotion. Gelhardt began his career at Wigan before joining Leeds, where he scored three goals in 57 appearances, with loan periods at Sunderland and Hull in between.

Gourna-Douath has agreed a five-year deal with the Tigers. The French midfielder started out at Saint-Etienne, making 65 appearances for the club before moving to Red Bull Salzburg in 2022. He went on to make 95 appearances for the Austrian side over four seasons, spending the second half of last season on loan at Le Havre, where he played 15 games in France's Ligue 1.

The two arrivals become Hull City's 10th and 11th signings since the club secured promotion back to the Premier League last season.
