HUR: 18 of 26 Russian oil and stolen-grain ships face no sanctions
Ukraine's military intelligence reports that the majority of Russian ships involved in oil transportation and illicit grain exports evade international sanctions.
Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) stated that 18 out of 26 Russian ships linked to oil and grain shipments from Ukraine are not subject to international sanctions.
According to HUR, the oil tankers operate for companies such as Lukoil and Rosneft, while dry-cargo vessels load stolen grain at occupied ports, including Sevastopol.
The intelligence data indicates that these vessels continue to operate despite international efforts to restrict Russian energy and agricultural exports. However, Euromaidan Press noted that it could not independently verify the records.
This information highlights the ongoing issue of sanctions effectiveness and the loopholes that allow certain ships to bypass restrictions. Analysts emphasize that such gaps enable Russia to continue earning revenue from energy resources and Ukrainian grain trade.
HUR urges the international community to pay attention to these vessels and expand the sanctions list to cover those currently avoiding restrictions. However, no official confirmation from other sources has been provided so far.
