HyperX debuts its first open-back gaming headset, the Cloud Alpha Air
HyperX has released its first open-back gaming headset, the $150 Cloud Alpha Air, designed to retain strong bass despite the airier soundstage typical of open-back designs. The launch also includes new color options for existing headsets and a new lightweight mouse.

HyperX, a company that has been producing gaming accessories for more than a decade, has introduced its first open-back gaming headset, the Cloud Alpha Air, priced at $150.
Open-back headphones typically offer a more spacious, airy sound but tend to lose bass depth compared to closed-back models. HyperX addressed this with what it calls a Bass Tube, intended to preserve low-end response so players can more easily pick up on cues like footsteps and explosions.
Design and included accessories
The headset features foam earpads wrapped in ultrasuede for comfortable extended wear, and a metal headband that held up to a bend-durability test. Controls are kept minimal, limited to a volume wheel and a mute button for the detachable microphone. Metallic grilles on the earcups conceal red 40mm dynamic drivers underneath.
The package includes a full set of cables and adapters: a basic 3.5mm cord, a PC extension cable with separate audio and microphone jacks, and a USB adapter with both USB-A and USB-C connectors. A drawstring bag is also included for travel. The headset has an impedance of 34 ohms, and sound settings can be adjusted through HyperX's free NGENUITY software. For now, the Cloud Alpha Air is only available as a wired model.
Additional releases
Alongside the new headset, HyperX also introduced new color variants of its existing Cloud III S, Cloud III Wired and Cloud Flight 2 headsets. The company additionally unveiled its lightest mouse to date, the Pulsefire Haste 3 Pro ($130), weighing just 47 grams and equipped with a new sensor supporting up to 42,000 DPI. Cheaper options are also available, including the Pro Model at $90 and a wired version at $40. The new products are set to go on sale this September.
