Iecava to build lit pedestrian path worth nearly €400,000
The Bauska municipal council has approved a long-term loan from the State Treasury to build a nearly 1.3-kilometer illuminated pedestrian path in Iecava alongside two state roads.
At its September 24 session, the Bauska municipal council approved a long-term loan of €338,415 from the State Treasury to fund construction of a lit pedestrian path in Iecava. The project's total cost is estimated at €398,135.69 and has been included on the municipality's list of priority investment projects for 2026.
The new walkway will run alongside roads V1047 (Iecava–Lambārte) and V1040 (the access road to the Iecava care home), reaching a combined length of 1.297 kilometers. Local authorities say the goal is to improve pedestrian safety on Sila Street and along the stretch leading to the Iecava branch of the Zemgale social care center.
Two construction stages
Work will proceed in two phases. The first stage covers an 877-meter section from Sila Street to the Sila cemetery parking lot, to be built by Valkas ceļi for €206,162.57 excluding VAT — chosen from six bids submitted in the procurement. Construction supervision for this stage will be handled by Būves birojs for €4,100 excluding VAT.
The second stage, covering the remaining 420 meters to the care center branch, will involve design, construction and supervision by Ceļu Būvnieks for €113,945.19 excluding VAT; the firm scored the maximum points among four bidders. Part of the work, including design documentation, will be subcontracted to Rūķis AG. Construction oversight for this stage goes to Somniar for €4,030 excluding VAT.
Beyond the walkway itself, the project includes upgrading stormwater drainage, installing energy-efficient lighting, and improving the surrounding area. Repayment of the loan's principal is set to begin no later than 2028.
