Driver caught in Iecava with 2.43 per mille alcohol level
Police in Iecava detained a driver on Thursday morning after finding he was operating a BMW with a blood alcohol level of 2.43 per mille. A criminal case has been opened against him.

On Thursday morning, at around 8 a.m., police in Iecava stopped a man born in 1988 who was driving a BMW while heavily intoxicated.
According to State Police representative Rūta Strautniece-Apaļā, a check revealed the driver had a blood alcohol concentration of 2.43 per mille — far exceeding the legal limit.
Such a violation is classified as a criminal offense under Latvian law, and a criminal case has been opened against the man. Police continue to investigate the case.
